The RCK-17 is a single channel FET (Field Effect Transistor) compressor/limiter that incorporates some new unique features such as “High Pass Side Chain Filter”, “High Pass Filter” and “Low Pass Filter” that works well to colorize the sound. It also adds the important Stereo Link feature to link two units together. The RCK-17 uses powerful power supply filter decoupling for incredibly low cost and low noise, and also uses premium Nichicon audio-specific capacitors.

The RCK-17 uses the knob to control the compression ratio compression ratio. When 2:1 is selected, it is light compression, when 4:1 is selected, it is light compression, when 8:1 is selected, it is heavy compression, when 12:1 is selected, it is lightly limited, and 20:1 is severely restricted. Button mode operation is designed especially for vocals, drums, bass, guitar and room mics.

The RCK-17’s Attack Time knob adjusts the amount of time the compressor takes until the audio begins to compress when the level exceeds the threshold. The response time is faster when the knob is in the fully counterclockwise position and slower when turned clockwise. The Release Time knob adjusts how long the compressor remains on after the incoming audio falls below the threshold. The response time is also faster when the knob is in the fully counterclockwise position, and slower when turned clockwise.
